Own Correspondent: A strong western disturbance has formed over Iran and adjoining Turkmenistan which will move east and southeast during the next 72 hours, cross Afghanistan and Pakistan and affect the hilly and plain areas of northwest India by March 1. Moderate to heavy rain and snowfall is likely over the hilly areas of North West India between 1st March and 3rd March under the influence of strong western disturbance. Spell-based snowfall of 10 to 15 cm is likely to be recorded in several parts of Janmu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand between 1st and 3rd March under the influence of western disturbance. Record snowfall is likely in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand due to the influence of the incoming western disturbance. Punjab, Haryana Chandigarh and adjoining areas are likely to receive thundershowers of 30 to 50 mm during the period from 1st to 3rd March 2024.10 to 30 mm rain with thundershowers is likely over Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. Scattered hailstorm is likely over North West India under the influence of incoming western disturbance. Rajasthan, Chandigarh, Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh are likely to experience hailstorm. Foothills of Uttarakhand may witness hailstorm. The plains of North West India will be accompanied by rain with gusty winds of 40 to 50 kmph and isolated gusty winds of 30 to 40 kmph or thundershowers. Weather conditions in North West India will improve from 5th March and the minimum temperature will drop significantly. The winter chillness will increase. Cold wave may sweep over some parts of North West India from 5th March.
