As the monsoon strengthens across the country, Meteora Weather Service has issued an updated forecast indicating widespread rainfall activity from 4th to 10th August, with some regions likely to experience extremely heavy downpours. Citizens are advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions.

Northwest India: Torrential Rain Ahead

  • Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated locations over Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 4th August.

  • Heavy rainfall is expected over Uttarakhand (4th–10th Aug), Himachal Pradesh (4th–8th Aug), Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab (4th–5th Aug), Haryana, and both East and West Uttar Pradesh.

  • Very heavy rainfall is especially likely over Himachal Pradesh on 4th & 5th August.

  • Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is forecast across the Western Himalayan region and plains over the next 7 days.

East & Central India: Bihar, Bengal & Madhya Pradesh Under Watch

  • Heavy rainfall is expected over:

    • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Bihar (4th–9th Aug)

    • Odisha (6th–7th Aug), Gangetic West Bengal (4th, 6th & 7th Aug)

    • Jharkhand (7th–8th Aug)

    • Northwest Madhya Pradesh (4th & 5th Aug)

    • East Madhya Pradesh (4th Aug)

    • Chhattisgarh (8th–10th Aug)

  • Very heavy rainfall is likely over Bihar (4th & 5th Aug) and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim (4th & 7th Aug).

  • Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorm and lightning is expected at many locations across this region for the next 5 days.

Northeast India: Continued Wet Spell with Isolated Heavy Rain

  • Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms is likely across Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura from 4th–10th August.

  • Very heavy rainfall is forecast for Arunachal Pradesh (4th & 7th–10th Aug).

  • Assam & Meghalaya may also experience very heavy rainfall on 4th, 7th & 8th August.

South Peninsular India: Red Alert for Kerala & Tamil Nadu Hills

  • Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places in Kerala and Ghat areas of Tamil Nadu on 5th & 6th August.

  • Heavy rainfall is likely over:

    • Tamil Nadu, Kerala & Mahe

    • Coastal & South Interior Karnataka (4th–8th Aug)

    • Lakshadweep (4th–6th Aug)

    • North Interior Karnataka (6th–8th Aug)

    • Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema (4th–10th Aug)

  • Very heavy rainfall may occur over Tamil Nadu, Kerala (4th–7th Aug) and Rayalaseema (5th Aug).

  • Strong surface winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are very likely across this region over the next 3 days.

  • Moderate rains with lightning are likely over most areas in the southern peninsula.

West India: Maharashtra, Goa, and Konkan to Witness Downpours

  • Heavy rainfall is expected over:

    • Marathawada (6th–7th Aug)

    • Konkan & Goa (7th–8th Aug)

    • Madhya Maharashtra (8th Aug)

  • Light to moderate rain is expected across most places in West India during the next 5–6 days.
