India is set to witness widespread heavy to extremely heavy rainfall across several regions in the coming days. Multiple states are expected to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and very heavy showers, raising alerts for residents, travelers, and local administrations. Here’s a detailed regional breakdown:


🌧 Northwest India

  • Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Uttarakhand (31st August & 1st September), Himachal Pradesh (31st August – 2nd September), and Jammu & Kashmir-Ladakh (2nd September).

  • Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast across Uttarakhand, East Rajasthan, Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi, and West Uttar Pradesh during the week.

  • Himachal Pradesh, East Uttar Pradesh, West Rajasthan, and Punjab will also experience spells of very heavy rainfall.

  • Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning is expected in many places, especially over East Rajasthan and Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad.


🌧 West India

  • Extremely heavy rainfall is expected at isolated locations in Gujarat (4th & 5th September), Saurashtra & Kutch (5th & 6th September).

  • Very heavy rainfall will lash Gujarat Region (31st August & 3rd–6th September), Saurashtra & Kutch (4th–6th September), Konkan & Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra (3rd–5th September).

  • Light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning is likely across the region for the next 5 days.


🌧 East & Central India

  • Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha (next 4–5 days), Vidarbha (2nd–4th September), Bihar, Andaman & Nicobar Islands (31st August).

  • Very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in West Madhya Pradesh (31st August) and Odisha (1st & 2nd September).

  • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim will also see strong rainfall spells.


🌧 Northeast India

  • Isolated heavy rainfall likely to continue over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura during the week.

  • Assam & Meghalaya (31st August, 2nd–6th September), Arunachal Pradesh (31st August, 5th & 6th September) will see heavy showers.

  • Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms will dominate much of the northeast.


🌧 South Peninsular India

  • Isolated heavy rainfall is forecast over Kerala, Mahe & Coastal Karnataka during the week.

  • Tamil Nadu, North Interior Karnataka, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam will also see rain spells between 31st August – 3rd September.

  • Very heavy rainfall is likely over Coastal Karnataka (2nd & 3rd September).

  • Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms is expected at many places across southern states.
