India Weather Update: A Tale of Rising Heat and Mountain Snow

As February winds down, India's weather is entering a classic transitional phase. While the plains are starting to feel an early summer-like warmth, the northern peaks are still holding onto winter with fresh snow on the horizon.Spring is moving fast this year.The maximum temperatures are currently 3–5°C above normal in many parts of Northwest India.

Expect clear skies and a steady climb in temperature. Highs will likely hover between 30°C and 32°C, while the minimum will stay around 14°C. Early morning mist is expected, but the afternoons will be bright and warm in some parts of North India.Heat is intensifying here, with some regions seeing mercury levels hit the 34°C to 37°C range in Rajasthan & Gujarat.

A fresh, albeit feeble, Western Disturbance is moving in. This will bring a brief change for the hills over the next 48 hours.Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal, and Uttarakhand: Isolated light rainfall and snowfall are likely in the higher reaches in the 24 hours.The plains of Punjab and Haryana may see some morning fog, but the rain will likely stay confined to the mountains.

The southern peninsula and parts of the Northeast are seeing some moisture-laden winds causing scattered activity.Isolated light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are forecast for Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and parts of Interior Karnataka over the next 24 hours.

The gap between day and night temperatures is quite high.Weather conditions can change rapidly during this transitional season
