Seen as the fourth strongest El Niño–Southern Oscillation event in recorded history, the El Niño of 2023–2024 caused extensive droughts, flooding, and other natural calamities worldwide. On July 4, 2023, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) announced the beginning.The planet's various territories will determine the characteristics of the most significant meteorological effects, which are expected to range from November 2023 to April 2024. These effects include droughts, heavy rains, wildfires, heat waves, tropical cyclones, flooding, and changes in wind patterns.The economic activities of fishing and agriculture have already been significantly impacted by these events, leading to shortages and price increases of food, particularly rice, sugar cane, soybeans, corn, and palm oil. As a result, the most vulnerable people now experience greater levels of food insecurity.
