Tropical Cyclone are one of the prominent drivers of controlling the atmosphere & climate around every region of the Earth by sending back the Equatorial convective clouds to Deep tropics & then Sub tropics & then again another cyclone tries to pull those leftover clouds from those areas towards equator through different layers of the troposphere. Like every other regions it also controls the weather & climate patterns of Southern Asia too & When we talk about weather & climate in South Asia, the first thing comes around in our mind is Monsoon as that is influences everything like rainfall, thunderstorms, dust storms, heatwave, economical conditions of a nation, agricultural conditions & the industrial revenue based on that. It even controls poverty & the happiness level of people. Cyclones are surely destructive & an unwanted things, but without it; its hard to continue daily life. In average about 10-15 Tropical Disturbance forms every year over North Indian Ocean according to current climatology, under which 10 became depression or more powerful, 5 attains gale force winds, 2 to 3 hurricane force winds & 1 become a Major Cyclone some years. This system are form during the onset & withdrawal of the monsoon as two opposite nature of winds collide, one strong one; causing an abnormality or unstable state, forming a Disturbance which slowly gathers its pace, often supported by strong monsoonal winds, which wraps around the system making it strong. However as this system wraps around most of the monsoon current - wherever they go it only affects that region while it funnels up moisture, cloud bands from other areas causing heatwave there like Cyclone Viyaru did on 2013.
Now coming to its effect over monsoon, like we said as this systems are controlled by monsoon in a hand & on the other hand they control monsoon they affects the monsoon for sure. For some place its just become a blessings, more in where it goes & for the rest it becomes curse. During withdrawal of monsoon formation of systems also delays the normal withdrawal of monsoon. Like in 2009 due to Cyclone Aila, Southwest monsoon made the earliest onset over Eastern India, in the parts of West Bengal including capital city Kolkata on May 25th, since 1960. While on the other hand, on 2019th formation of Cyclone Vayu over Arabian sea delayed the progress the monsoon over entire India for about 2 weeks nearly while in 2023 Extremely Severe Cyclone Biparjoy cause delay of the Southwest monsoon progress over the business capital of India for 10 days. Like onset, formation of Cyclone over North Indian Ocean also affects its normal withdrawal too. On 2020, formation of 3 back to back Depression namely BOB 02, ARB 03 & BOB 03 over North Indian Ocean between October 10 to 24th delayed its normal withdrawal for more than 2 weeks. System Formation during the onset of monsoon heavily affects the region where the system makes landfall as strong monsoonal winds, flooding rains & storm surge are attached with that & the effects remains for few days as the system pulls monsoon surge, mostly formation of system over Bay of Bengal during the onset of monsoon helps the onset, while if the system forms over Arabian sea during monsoon onset the country see heatwave conditions & people eagerly wait for dissipation of that system.
In this year also there's a chance of Cyclogenesis during the onset of Southwest monsoon near Andaman sea, however how that will affect this year monsoon we'll have to wait for that.
