Meteora Weather Service has issued an important rainfall alert as two strong weather systems are currently active — one over the southwest Bay of Bengal and another over the southeast Arabian Sea. These systems are likely to intensify into depressions in the coming days, bringing heavy to extremely heavy rainfall over southern and northeastern parts of India.

đŸŒĻ️ South Peninsular India:

Light to moderate rain and thunderstorms are expected at many places across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala, Mahe, Rayalaseema, and Karnataka between 21st–25th October.

  • Extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) is very likely over Tamil Nadu on 21st–22nd and Kerala on 22nd October.

  • Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and South Interior Karnataka may experience thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds (30–50 kmph).

  • Coastal areas could see temporary waterlogging due to persistent rain.

🌧️ Northeast, East & Central India:

The Andaman & Nicobar Islands will witness heavy to moderate rainfall and thunderstorms throughout 21st–27th October.
Odisha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura are expected to receive intense showers with isolated heavy rainfall over Mizoram on 23rd October.
Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh are also likely to experience lightning and gusty winds (30–50 kmph) during 21st–25th October.

🌩️ West & North India:

Thunderstorm activity with lightning is expected over Konkan, Goa, Marathwada, and Madhya Maharashtra during the next 5 days.
Meanwhile, under the influence of a Western Disturbance, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh are likely to experience lightning and isolated rain on 21st & 22nd October.

🌍 Meteorological Overview:

  • A Well Marked Low-Pressure Area lies over the southwest Bay of Bengal, moving towards Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts, likely to intensify further.

  • Another Well Marked Low-Pressure System persists over the southeast Arabian Sea, which will move north-westwards towards the Lakshadweep and Kerala coasts.

  • The Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation over Andaman Sea and Southwest Rajasthan will enhance rain and thunderstorm activity over adjoining regions.

Outlook for the Next 3 Days:

Widespread rainfall activity is likely over the Northeast India, while scattered to moderate rainfall will continue over the West Coast and East India.
