As monsoon winds gain strength across the Indian subcontinent, multiple regions are gearing up for a week filled with intense weather activity. From the southern tip to the northwestern frontier, scattered to widespread rainfall, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and localized heavy to extremely heavy downpours are on the radar. Here’s a region-wise breakdown of the upcoming weather events:


🌧️ South Peninsular India: Wet Spell to Continue

Expect light to moderate rainfall across most places in Kerala, Karnataka, and Lakshadweep for the next week. Isolated thunderstorms with gusty winds (up to 50 kmph) will accompany these showers, especially over:

  • Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Rayalaseema, and interior Karnataka from 13th to 17th June.

  • Strong surface winds (up to 60 kmph) are also expected in Kerala & Mahe from 14th to 16th June.

⚠️ Heavy Rainfall Alerts:

  • Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Kerala & Mahe between 13th-19th June.

  • Coastal Karnataka and South Interior Karnataka from 13th-18th June.

  • Extremely heavy rainfall (>20 cm in 24 hours) likely over parts of Coastal Karnataka, Kerala, and Mahe around 13th to 16th June.


West India: Thunderstorms & Extreme Rains on the Cards

Many areas across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Konkan, Goa, and Saurashtra will experience light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning. Key highlights include:

  • Isolated heavy rainfall in Marathawada, Konkan & Goa, Saurashtra, and Kutch during 13th–19th June.

  • Extremely heavy rainfall likely over Konkan & Goa from 13th to 16th June, especially affecting hilly terrain and low-lying zones.


🌩️ East & Central India: Thundersqualls and Soaking Showers

The weather activity intensifies in states like West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, and Chhattisgarh:

  • Thundersqualls (wind speeds of 50-70 kmph) may lash Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and West Bengal around 13th to 15th June.

  • Isolated very heavy rainfall expected over:

    • Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim from 13th–14th June.

    • Bihar and Odisha during 16th–18th June.

    • Jharkhand and Gangetic West Bengal on 17th–19th June.


🌦️ Northwest India: Light Rains with Isolated Thunderstorms

This region will see scattered rainfall, especially in:

  • Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Delhi from 14th to 19th June.

  • Rajasthan could also receive showers on 18th and 19th June.

  • Winds of 40-50 kmph and thunderstorms may cause temporary disruptions.

  • Localized flooding and landslides in hilly areas.

  • Power outages and road disruptions due to lightning and gusty winds.

  • Urban waterlogging in cities under heavy rainfall bands.
