As the southwest monsoon advances further across the Indian subcontinent, several regions are set to receive intense rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds in the week ahead (July 9th to 15th). The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued region-wise alerts indicating isolated to very heavy rainfall in multiple zones.


đŸ”ļ East & Central India: Torrential Rains Continue

  • Extremely heavy rainfall (≥21 cm) is highly likely at isolated places over southeast Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and south Chhattisgarh on July 9th.

  • Heavy rainfall will persist over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh during 9th–15th July; Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim on 9th & 13th; and Odisha, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal on multiple days.

  • Very heavy rainfall is expected over Madhya Pradesh (9th–12th), and over Jharkhand, West Bengal, Vidarbha & Chhattisgarh on 10th July.

  • Gusty winds (30–40 kmph) and lightning likely over the region, especially today.


🏔️ Northwest India: Heavy Rains Over Hills and Plains

  • Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over East Rajasthan, Uttarakhand from 9th–15th; Himachal Pradesh, Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh during 9th–13th.

  • Very heavy rainfall over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, East Rajasthan on 11th–13th July.

  • Thunderstorm and lightning activity likely across the Western Himalayan region and plains throughout the week.


🌊 West India: Coastal and Inland Regions in Focus

  • Heavy rainfall will affect Konkan & Goa, Gujarat, Ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during 9th–15th July.

  • Saurashtra & Kutch may see significant rain on 12th & 13th.

  • Thunderstorm activity with moderate to heavy showers likely across the region.


đŸŒŋ Northeast India: Steady and Strong Showers

  • Light to moderate rainfall is likely across most parts of the region.

  • Heavy rainfall likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura (9th–15th).

  • Very heavy rainfall alert over Tripura on July 9th.

  • Frequent lightning and thunderstorms are expected.


🌴 South Peninsular India: Windy and Rainy Conditions

  • Isolated heavy rainfall likely over Coastal Karnataka, Kerala (9th–15th) and Telangana on 9th July.

  • Strong surface winds (40–50 kmph) will sweep across southern states over the next 5 days.

  • Rainfall will range from moderate to scattered across Kerala, Lakshadweep, Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Yanam with chances of thunderstorms.
