Weather conditions across India are expected to remain active during the end of December and early January. Rainfall and snowfall activity over the western Himalayan region, thunderstorms over island territories, and widespread fog, cold wave, and cold day conditions over northern, central, and eastern parts of the country are likely to affect daily life and travel. Scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall and snowfall is very likely over:
Jammu–Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad during 30 December to 02 January
Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during 30 December to 02 January
In addition, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall is likely over:
Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Rajasthan on 29 and 30 December
West Uttar Pradesh on 01 January
Thunderstorm Activity
Isolated thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (30–40 km/h) are likely to prevail over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during 29 to 31 December.
🌡️ Minimum Temperature Forecast
Northwest India
Minimum temperatures are expected to show a gradual rise of 3–4°C over the next 3 days, followed by a fall of 3–4°C during the subsequent 4 days.
Central India
A gradual rise of 2–3°C in minimum temperatures is very likely over the next 5 days, after which no significant change is expected.
East India
No significant change in minimum temperatures is likely over the next 2 days, followed by a gradual rise of 2–3°C during the subsequent 3 days.
Over Jharkhand, no significant change is expected during the next 24 hours, followed by a rise of 2–3°C during the subsequent 6 days.
Western & Other Regions
Gujarat: No significant change for the next 3 days, followed by a fall of 2–3°C during the subsequent 4 days
North Maharashtra: No significant change for the next 2 days, followed by a fall of 2–3°C during the subsequent 5 days
Remaining parts of India: No significant change expected during the next 7 days
