Widespread Heavy Rainfall Expected Across Multiple Regions of India – 13th to 19th August

The monsoon continues to remain active across India, with several states bracing for extremely heavy rainfall in the coming days. The Indian subcontinent is set to experience intense weather conditions, with thunderstorms, lightning, and strong winds accompanying heavy showers in many parts.


Northwest India

  • Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely at isolated places over Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on 13th August.

  • Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Jammu & Kashmir (13th–18th), Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand (13th–19th), Punjab (14th–16th), Haryana, Chandigarh, and West Uttar Pradesh (13th–16th), East Uttar Pradesh (14th), and East Rajasthan (14th–18th).

  • Very heavy rainfall is likely over Jammu & Kashmir (14th & 15th), Himachal Pradesh (14th), Uttarakhand (13th–17th), West Uttar Pradesh (13th–15th), and East Uttar Pradesh (13th).

  • Widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms & lightning is likely across the region for the next 7 days.


Northeast India

  • Heavy rainfall is expected to continue over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam & Meghalaya (13th–16th), Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura (13th–17th).

  • Very heavy rainfall is likely over Arunachal Pradesh (13th) and Assam & Meghalaya (13th & 16th August).

  • Light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms & lightning will prevail in most parts over the next 4 days.


South Peninsular India

  • Extremely heavy rainfall is very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam on 13th and Telangana on 13th & 14th August.

  • Isolated heavy rainfall is expected over Coastal Karnataka & North Interior Karnataka (13th–19th), South Interior Karnataka (13th–17th), Rayalaseema (14th), Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Telangana (13th–19th), Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal (13th), and Kerala (13th).

  • Isolated very heavy rainfall is possible over Rayalaseema (13th), Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam (14th), Telangana (15th–17th), and Coastal Karnataka (18th & 19th).

  • Strong surface winds (40–50 km/h) are likely along parts of South Peninsular India for the next 2 days.


East & Central India

  • Extremely heavy rainfall is likely at isolated places over Bihar on 13th August.

  • Isolated heavy rainfall is likely over Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh (13th–19th), Gangetic West Bengal (13th), Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim (14th & 17th–19th), Bihar (14th & 15th), and Odisha (13th).

  • Isolated very heavy rainfall is possible over West Madhya Pradesh (13th, 15th & 16th), East Madhya Pradesh & Odisha (13th & 14th), Vidarbha (13th, 14th, 17th, 18th), Chhattisgarh (13th–17th), and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim (13th).
